Payment Gateways Ready to Use in Botswana
The capacity to do eCommerce in Botswana has been around for some years now, with the introduction of Virtual Card Services (VCS) payment gateway through FNB Botswana, which more recently, has been taken over by DPO Paygate of South Africa. Weblogic has integrated numerous websites over the years using VCS; some you may be familiar with like Diacore Marathon and Mr Veg. Others have fallen by the wayside claiming it was too soon for eCommerce in Botswana.
Given the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic world-wide, Botswana has not been immune. However, what has helped developed economies immensely is the fact that they have adopted eCommerce as a way of life. This has made a lockdown somewhat easier to bear than perhaps ourselves in Botswana.
But don’t fret, we at Weblogic, believe it to be an opportune time to start thinking about eCommerce. Given that the way of doing business has fundamentally changed for good, whether we like it or not, people are forced to consider alternative ways of acquiring their daily goods and services. This has given businesses the impetus to adapt to the changing business climate and start to think about online more than ever before.

Payment Gateways Ready to Use in Botswana
PayGate
The longest serving online payment gateway is most certainly VCS, which was acquired by DPO Paygate of South Africa sometime last year. DPO Group is the leading African payment service provider (PSP). We enable businesses and individuals across the continent to accept payments online with all currencies and payment methods, including all major cards, mobile money, and e-wallets.
DPO currently works with FNB Botswana and Stanbic Bank. DPO offers three packages available to signup: Starter, Medium and Premium. There is no fixed contract term contract, although this may differ from bank to bank, however, the bank will also charge you a monthly fee as well as a percentage of each transaction.
You will need to complete the PayGate Memorandum of Agreement. A merchant consultant at FNB or Stanbic Bank will contact you and assist with the opening of your Internet Merchant account account. Note that this is a separate account from your Business Cheque account and will be linked to your business account. Paygate do offer a free WordPress compatible shopping cart plugin too.
